The American History Series continues with a program titled Delaware Politics During the Civil War. Presented by Michael McKain, this program will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 1:00 p.m. at the Milford Public Library in Milford, Delaware. The presentation will explore the story of Delaware’s political climate on the eve of and during the American Civil War. Delaware, though a border state,  had  a uniquely divided political situation with a dwindling number of enslaved people, competing loyalties to the Union, state sovereignty, and a fading slave system. Drawing on primary sources such as newspapers, diaries, and speeches, this presentation will explore the complex and fascinating world of Delaware’s politics during the Civil War Era.
