Story Ideas
There is so much to be explored in Central Delaware, and we’re here to help you find it! For story ideas, make sure to check out our Things to Do, Trip Ideas & Itineraries, and Travel Blog.
Some other story ideas that make our region so special…
- Horseshoe Crabs! Every late April through June, hundreds of thousands of horseshoe crabs spawn to our beautiful bay shores for mating season, and their migration attracts thousands of shorebirds too!
- Historic Downtown Dover, where it all began. The Constitution was first ratified in Downtown Dover at the Golden Fleece Tavern, and there is a plaque located Downtown at the very spot where our nation began. From there, you can get a walking tour from the costumed guides at First State Heritage Park, or explore it on your own!
- The historic figures of Delaware’s past that aren’t often recognized for their efforts in American History, such as William Penn, John Dickinson and Caesar Rodney.
- The Chocolate Candy Murders of 1898, when two Dover women died after receiving a poisoned box of candy sent by mail, and was the first occurrence of the U.S. Postal Service being used to commit murder.
