Overview

The First State Heritage Park is Delaware’s first urban “park without boundaries” linking historic and cultural sites in the city that has been the seat of state government since 1777. It is a partnership of state and city agencies under the leadership of Delaware State Parks.

The main interpretive site, the John Bell House, located on Dover’s Historic Green, is open Thursday through Saturday, 9 am – 4 pm. Visiting the John Bell House and interacting with the historic interpreters is always free! 

Walking tours leave hourly from the John Bell House Interpretive Center at 11 am and 2 pm. Walking Tours of the Green are now anle to be reserved online or paid for in person. The cost of the walking tours is $6.50 per person, for any participants older than 8. Click here to reserve walking tour tickets online. During the winter months, these are offered on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 

FREE guided tours are available at Legislative Hall Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 10 am – 1 pm. These tours are also offered on First Saturdays. During the winter months, these are available Thursdays and Fridays (closed on Wednesday).
