Overview

Next Upcoming Date:
Saturday, August 9, 2025

Dover English Country Dancers was founded in 1979 by Winfried and Edith Mroz and Alex and Rosemary Apostolina.

The mission of the Dover English Country Dancers is to provide opportunities to dance and to promote quality English country dance experiences for all levels, across all ages, and for multiple personal dance interests ranging from social, cultural, community, and fitness/wellness reasons.

The Dover English Country Dancers hold regular English country dances on the second Saturday of each month, with two annual special events in the Spring and in December.

There’s in-person instruction, live music, snacks, and always something new to learn, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer.

Love the beauty and grace of Bridgerton balls? Wonder what it would be like to dance the night away in a Jane Austen novel?

The monthly dances are usually held at Ehinger Hall, located on the grounds of the Elizabeth W. Murphey School (directly at the intersection of Division Street and Kent Avenue).

Newcomers are always welcome, and each dance is taught with a walk-through before it is danced.

Annual membership for a January – December season is $10.  You can become a Member at any time during the year.

Regular monthly dance admission for Members is $7.

Regular monthly dance admission for non-members is $10.

Payment: cash or check only.  Make checks payable to DOVER ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCERS.

Admission price may change for special event dances.

Dress is casual (“regular” clothes, non-marking soled shoes).

We ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or anything with a heavy scent in consideration of other dancers.

Please note that there is a break at each dance.  To “host” the snack table, please speak with Brian Miller, DECD Treasurer.  A snack table host will set up before and clean up after the dance and may set a “theme” for the table, such as hearts/red for a February dance.

Please also note that everyone is encouraged to participate in the snack table by either hosting or contributing a snack to be shared.
