Overview
This nature center sits on a 376-acre piece of the Milford Millponds Nature Preserve. While there, you can hike through lush deciduous and Atlantic White Cedar woodlands, explore the handicap-accessible boardwalk following a clear coastal plain stream, and also explore open meadows, enjoy the picnic area, and gain inspiration from the Garden for Wildlife idea garden.
While tours of the historic gristmill are temporarily on hold for repairs, its water source, a 20-acre pond, lends a sense of the rich human history of the area and provides a source of recreation for visitors.
Inside the nature center, discover wildlife up close with a live animal collection and taxidermy animal displays.
Abbott’s Pond is a public access pond with a public boat ramp for personal motor boats and kayaks/canoes. Fishing is permitted and regualted by Delaware Fish & Wildlife, with a fishing permit requried for everyone ages 16-64.
