Built in 1791, the Old State House served as the state’s capital building through the 1930s. The first floor features a courtroom, and the second floor has two legislative chambers. Visiting this beautiful building gives you the chance to see artifacts such as notable portraits of George Washington as well as Thomas Macdonough and Jacob Jones, who were heroes of the War of 1812. During some First Saturday events, you might find local food trucks and vendors or special performances.
Legislative Hall is another historical site in First State Heritage Park. This incredible building features gorgeous Georgian-style architecture and has served as Delaware’s General Assembly since the 1930s. Tours are offered Wednesdays through Fridays and on the first Saturday of the month.
