$55 per person
All floral and pastel artwork supplies, along with instructions, will be included by Spectrum Farms. Participants will leave with their summer mason jar of flowers and their pastel artwork.
Pastel artwork is vibrant, expressive, and full of rich texture. Unlike other drawing mediums, pastels offer intense, blendable colors that create a soft, almost luminous effect. Artists use them to layer hues, smudge edges, and build depth, resulting in artwork that can feel both delicate and bold. The unique dry pigment allows for smooth transitions and dynamic contrasts, making pastels perfect for capturing light, mood, and atmosphere. Whether working with soft pastels for dreamy, painterly strokes or oil pastels for rich, dense marks, the medium invites a tactile, hands-on approach to creativity.
An overview of pastels and general guidance will be provided as you create your 9″x12″ piece of artwork. We are excited to have Jennifer Boland as our instructor for this creative opportunity with flowers. Jennifer has been teaching art at Delaware for 25 years and has been a part of the Campus Community School (CCS) for 22 years teaching art. Jennifer is an adjunct professor at Delaware Technical Community College for the past 24 years. She currently owns a paint and photography business called Perspective Art. She has served on various boards, including the Dover Art League, the Delaware Art Educator Association, and the Delaware Arts Alliance. She is serving her second term on the CCS board as the secretary. Mrs. Boland holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and has earned a Master of Education from Wesley College. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Wilmington University. She has two fabulous girls and a loving husband. No experience needed; all supplies and instructions are also included.
